About the Fitter Learnership Programme

Fitter Learnership (3 positions available) is designed to provide a balance of theoretical knowledge and hands-on training. This programme follows the 18.2 unemployed learnership model, targeting individuals who are currently unemployed and seeking career development opportunities.

Participants will gain exposure to real engineering environments while working alongside experienced professionals.

What You Will Learn as a Fitter

A fitter plays a critical role in maintaining and repairing machinery used in mining and industrial operations. During the programme, you will develop practical skills such as:

• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
• Assembling and installing mechanical components
• Maintaining and repairing industrial equipment
• Using specialised tools and precision instruments
• Following safety and operational standards

Minimum Requirements

Matric (Grade 12)

• Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy)
• Physical Science
• English
• Minimum of 40% in each subject

N2 Qualification or Higher

Relevant subjects must include:

• Fitting Trade Theory / Mechanotechnology / Mechanotechnics
• Engineering Drawings
• Mathematics
• Engineering Science

NCV Level 4

• Relevant trade qualification
• Minimum of 40% in all subjects
