Who Can Apply? – Priority for Host Community Residents
- Live in one of the following areas: Bekkersdal, Zuurbekom (Zuurberkom), Thusanang, Hillshaven, Westonaria, Poortjie, Simunye, Kalbasfontein, Jachtfontein, or Westonaria Borwa.
- Have successfully completed and passed the four required N3 trade-specific subjects as stipulated by the Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) and South Deep Gold Mine.
This learnership is open to both aspiring new entrants and prospective applicants from these communities who are passionate about building a future in the mining sector.
Minimum Requirements
- Matriculation certificate for Grade 12 that includes both math and physical science.
- A full N3 qualification including these four key subjects:
- Engineering Mathematics
- Engineering Science
- Electrical Trade Theory
- Industrial Electronics
- Be declared medically fit for underground mining work and the specific environment. This includes passing a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre, a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and any other assessments required to confirm your suitability.
- Attach all relevant certificates (Grade 12, N3 subjects, etc.) to your CV – incomplete applications won’t be shortlisted.
