Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or equivalent
Completion of a Basic Security Course (accredited by PSIRA)
No criminal record and no history of illicit activity (a clean police clearance is essential)
Registered as a Security Officer with PSIRA at Grade C level (minimum)
PSIRA Grade A registration will be a strong added advantage
At least 1 year of relevant experience in the security field

What You’ll Do as a Security Guard (Core Responsibilities)

This hands-on role puts you right at the heart of safety operations. Your daily duties will include:

Protecting premises, assets, and personnel — You will help create and maintain a safe, secure environment at assigned City facilities through regular patrols, observation, and proactive risk management.
Access Control — You’ll manage who enters and exits buildings or sites, providing a strong, visible security presence that reassures legitimate visitors while deterring unauthorised access.
Administrative Duties — Completing accurate incident reports, maintaining security registers, and handling basic paperwork to ensure smooth and professional operations.
Emergency Response — Quickly reporting incidents, assisting during emergencies, and helping to keep control in challenging situations so that everyone stays as safe as possible.
CCTV Monitoring — Operating surveillance cameras and equipment to detect suspicious activity, prevent crime and theft, and protect both people and valuable City property.

You will work as part of a dedicated team that values discipline, teamwork, integrity, and professionalism. Shift work, including weekends and public holidays, may be required depending on operational needs.
