Job Description
Job Title: Warehouse Worker – Cycle Counts Specialist
Job Summary:
We are actively seeking a highly motivated, reliable, and exceptionally detail-oriented Warehouse Worker – Cycle Counts Specialist to join our dynamic and growing logistics team. In this pivotal role, you will be primarily responsible for conducting accurate and thorough cycle counting of our inventory within our state-of-the-art warehouse facility. The ideal candidate will possess a strong and demonstrable work ethic, an unwavering commitment to precision and accuracy, and the proven ability to thrive and maintain efficiency in a demanding, fast-paced operational environment. This position is absolutely crucial to the integrity of our supply chain, playing an indispensable role in ensuring the continuous accuracy of our inventory records, minimizing discrepancies, and contributing significantly to the overall organization and operational excellence of our warehouse. Your efforts will directly impact our ability to fulfill orders promptly and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute Comprehensive Cycle Counts: Proactively conduct systematic and meticulously planned cycle counts of all inventory items located within the warehouse. This will be performed diligently according to a predetermined and carefully managed schedule, often utilizing advanced inventory management software and handheld scanning devices. This includes, but is not limited to, raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
- Investigate and Resolve Discrepancies: Take ownership of identifying, thoroughly investigating, and effectively resolving any and all discrepancies that arise during inventory counts. This requires analytical thinking, meticulous cross-referencing with system data, and potentially reviewing historical transaction records. You will be expected to identify root causes of variances and propose corrective actions.
- Contribute to Warehouse Organization: Actively assist in the ongoing organization, tidiness, and efficient layout of the warehouse space. This includes proper labeling, staging of products, and ensuring clear aisles and accessible storage areas to optimize workflow and productivity for the entire team. Your contributions will directly enhance operational efficiency and safety.
- Collaborate for Accuracy: Foster strong collaborative relationships with the broader warehouse team, including receiving, picking, packing, and shipping personnel. This collaboration is essential to ensure the accurate and timely completion of all cycle count activities, facilitate information sharing regarding inventory movements, and proactively address any potential issues.
- Adherence to Safety Protocols: Consistently and rigorously follow all established company safety protocols, procedures, and best practices while working within the warehouse environment. This includes proper lifting techniques, operating equipment safely (if applicable), wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and reporting any potential hazards immediately to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
- Maintain Detailed Records: Accurately record and document all cycle count results, discrepancies, and resolutions within the designated inventory management system. Maintain clear, concise, and audit-ready documentation for future reference and analysis.
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement within the cycle counting and inventory management functions, and communicate these suggestions to leadership.
Qualifications:
- Educational Foundation: Possess a Matric certificate or an equivalent qualification, demonstrating a foundational level of education and comprehension.
- Relevant Experience (Preferred): While not strictly mandatory, candidates with at least one (1) year of proven, hands-on experience working in a fast-paced warehouse or a similar logistical/inventory-focused environment will be given strong preference. This experience should ideally include exposure to inventory control or cycle counting methodologies.
Inherent Requirements:
- Exceptional Attention to Detail and Accuracy: This is paramount. The role demands an almost obsessive commitment to precision, ensuring that every count is exact and every record is flawless. You must have a keen eye for discrepancies and a methodical approach to verification.
- Ability to Follow Instructions and Work Independently: Must be capable of understanding and meticulously following detailed instructions, procedures, and safety guidelines. While collaboration is key, a significant portion of this role requires the ability to work autonomously and manage your time effectively to complete assigned tasks without constant supervision.
- Basic Computer Proficiency: Demonstrated basic computer skills are essential, including comfort with navigating various software applications. Specific experience with inventory management systems (IMS) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or proprietary systems) for data entry, querying, and reporting is highly advantageous.
- Physical Stamina and Capability: Must possess the physical ability to safely and repeatedly lift, carry, push, and pull heavy objects (up to [insert specific weight, e.g., 50 lbs / 23 kg]) throughout a shift. This role involves prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching, and potentially climbing ladders or operating powered industrial trucks (with proper certification, if applicable).
- Excellent Communication and Organizational Skills: The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, with team members and supervisors is crucial. Strong organizational skills are also vital for managing tasks, maintaining records, and contributing to an orderly warehouse environment.
- Problem-Solving Aptitude: A proactive and analytical approach to identifying and resolving inventory discrepancies and related operational challenges.
- Adaptability: The ability to adapt to changing priorities, schedules, and warehouse layouts as business needs evolve.
If you are a meticulous and dedicated individual who meets these qualifications, and you are actively seeking a challenging yet incredibly rewarding opportunity to contribute significantly within a dynamic, fast-paced, and continuously evolving warehouse environment, then we enthusiastically encourage you to submit your application for the Warehouse Worker – Cycle Counts Specialist position.
