Our extensive portfolio spans a rich tapestry of categories, including the comforting warmth of hot beverages, the delectable indulgence of sweet and savory biscuits and snacks, the convenient solutions of frozen foods, the essential elegance of personal care products and cosmetics, and the stylish flair of shoes, accessories, and fashion apparel. For decades, AVI Ltd. has been synonymous with quality, innovation, and a deep understanding of consumer needs, consistently delivering products that resonate across diverse demographics.
At the heart of our manufacturing prowess lies NATIONAL BRANDS LIMITED, a cornerstone of the AVI Group, boasting an impressive network of five state-of-the-art manufacturing sites. These facilities are strategically located to optimize efficiency and distribution, offering world-class manufacturing capabilities in key industrial hubs: Isando (Johannesburg), Rosslyn (Pretoria), and Westmead and Durban (KZN). Each site is a testament to our commitment to excellence, equipped with cutting-edge technology and adhering to the highest international standards of production and quality control.
NATIONAL BRANDS LIMITED is more than just a manufacturer; it’s the proud home to some of South Africa’s most cherished and iconic tea, coffee, and creamer brands, which have become integral to the nation’s cultural fabric. Beyond beverages, we delight palates with our delicious range of much-loved savory and sweet biscuits, crafted with precision and passion to deliver an unforgettable taste experience. And for those moments when a quick and satisfying bite is desired, our melt-in-your-mouth snack range offers unparalleled enjoyment. These brands, nurtured and perfected over years, represent a legacy of trust and consumer loyalty.
We are thrilled to announce an exciting and invaluable opportunity for an aspiring professional to join our ranks as a Supply Chain In-service Trainee/Intern. This pivotal role is situated at our bustling Isando Biscuits factory in Kempton Park, a flagship facility where the magic of our beloved biscuit brands comes to life. This isn’t just an internship; it’s a comprehensive training ground designed to immerse you in the intricate world of supply chain management within a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate for this role will possess an insatiable eagerness to learn, a proactive spirit that drives initiative, and a natural aptitude for problem-solving. Given the scale and complexity of our operations, the ability to confidently and efficiently navigate a large, multi-floor factory with ease is paramount. You’ll be interacting with diverse teams, observing critical processes, and contributing to the seamless flow of goods from raw materials to finished products. This opportunity provides a unique chance to gain hands-on experience, develop practical skills, and build a foundational understanding of an essential business function within a leading FMCG company. If you’re ready to kickstart your career with a company that values growth, innovation, and delicious products, we encourage you to apply.
Embark on a dynamic career journey within our thriving organization! We are actively seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our esteemed team as an intern in the crucial field of Supply Chain and Logistics. This invaluable opportunity offers a hands-on experience, allowing you to seamlessly integrate your academic knowledge with real-world application, while contributing directly to our operational excellence.
To be considered for this exciting role, candidates must demonstrate a foundational understanding and strong commitment to the principles of efficient supply chain management. The core qualifications for this position are as follows:
- Educational Attainment: A robust academic background is essential. Applicants must possess, or be in the final stages of completing, a 2-year Supply Chain/Logistics Diploma. This foundational qualification provides the theoretical framework upon which practical experience will be built. Furthermore, it is specifically for individuals who are at the critical juncture of their academic journey, requiring only one additional year of in-service training to successfully complete their comprehensive studies and earn their full qualification. This indicates a readiness to apply learned concepts in a professional setting.
- Academic Performance: Demonstrated academic excellence is a key indicator of a candidate’s dedication and aptitude. We require a minimum average of 70% in your final year of studies. This threshold signifies a strong grasp of the subject matter and a consistent commitment to achieving high standards throughout your diploma program.
Beyond the fundamental academic requirements, successful candidates will also embody a range of essential skills and personal attributes that are crucial for thriving in our fast-paced environment. These additional requirements are not merely desirable but are integral to the daily demands of the role:
- Computer Literacy: In today’s digitally driven world, proficiency with various software applications is non-negotiable. Candidates must possess strong computer literacy, including a solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and a demonstrable ability to quickly adapt to and learn new enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and specialized logistics software. This will enable efficient data management, reporting, and communication.
- Flexibility in Working Hours: The nature of supply chain operations often extends beyond conventional office hours. Therefore, the ability to work irregular hours is a critical requirement. This may include occasional early mornings, late evenings, or even weekend work, depending on operational demands, project deadlines, or unforeseen circumstances. A flexible and adaptable approach to scheduling is paramount.
- Effective Communication: Clear and concise communication is the cornerstone of successful teamwork and external interactions. Candidates must possess good verbal communication skills, enabling them to articulate ideas, provide updates, convey instructions, and engage effectively with colleagues, suppliers, and other stakeholders across various levels of the organization.
- Autonomy and Initiative: We value individuals who can take ownership of their tasks and contribute proactively. The ability to operate independently is highly valued, meaning candidates should be comfortable taking direction, then executing tasks with minimal supervision, demonstrating self-reliance and problem-solving capabilities. This is complemented by the expectation to take initiative, actively seeking out opportunities to contribute, identify areas for improvement, and proactively address challenges before they escalate.
- Project Management Acumen: Even at an entry level, an understanding of Project Management principles is beneficial. This includes the ability to assist in organizing tasks, managing timelines, tracking progress, and contributing to the successful completion of various supply chain initiatives. While not necessarily leading large projects, a foundational appreciation for project methodologies will be advantageous.
- Data Analysis Skills: The modern supply chain generates vast amounts of data. A rudimentary understanding of Data Analysis is therefore important. This involves the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and contribute to informed decision-making. Familiarity with basic statistical concepts and the use of spreadsheets for data manipulation will be beneficial for optimizing logistics processes.
Please note, while the aforementioned qualifications and additional requirements represent the minimum standards for consideration, Management explicitly reserves the right to leverage a broader spectrum of information during the selection process. This means that in addition to these listed criteria, any other relevant academic achievements, work experience (even if informal), volunteer activities, personal projects, or demonstrated skills that align with the demands of the role may be used as supplementary criteria for short-listing candidates for further assessment. We encourage applicants to provide a comprehensive overview of their capabilities and aspirations.
