Experienced Volvo Truck Driver (Code 14 with PDP)
We are actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Volvo Truck Driver to join our dynamic team. This is a full-time position for individuals who possess a valid Code 14 driver’s license and an up-to-date Professional Driving Permit (PDP). We require a minimum of 3 years of verifiable commercial driving experience, with a strong preference for candidates who have specifically operated Volvo trucks.
Key Requirements and Qualifications:
- Nationality: All applicants must be South African citizens with valid identification.
- Driver’s License: A clean and valid Code 14 (EC/EC1) driver’s license is non-negotiable.
- Professional Driving Permit (PDP): An active and in-date PDP is essential.
- Experience: A proven track record of at least 3 years as a commercial driver is required. Experience with long-haul, heavy-duty vehicles, and particularly Volvo trucks, will be a significant advantage.
- References: Applicants must provide contactable professional references who can attest to their driving skills, reliability, safety record, and work ethic. These references will be thoroughly checked as part of our vetting process.
- Safety Conscious: A paramount commitment to safety protocols, road regulations, and responsible driving practices is expected.
- Reliability & Punctuality: The ability to adhere to strict schedules, maintain punctuality, and demonstrate consistent reliability is crucial for success in this role.
- Communication Skills: Good communication skills are necessary for interacting with dispatch, clients, and colleagues.
- Physical Fitness: The role may require a certain level of physical fitness to handle loading/unloading duties, vehicle inspections, and long hours on the road.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Operating Volvo heavy-duty trucks safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, ensuring it is in optimal working condition.
- Reporting any mechanical issues or defects promptly to management.
- Transporting goods and materials across various routes, potentially including long-distance travel.
- Ensuring timely and secure delivery of cargo.
- Maintaining accurate delivery logs and vehicle records.
- Communicating effectively with dispatch regarding route updates, delays, or any unforeseen circumstances.
- Adhering to strict safety standards, including proper loading and securing of freight.
- Representing the company professionally at all times.
