About the Role
Successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving both electrical and mechanical equipment within the Smelter Business Unit. The role forms a vital part of the maintenance team, ensuring that plant equipment remains reliable, safe, and operational at all times.
As an Artisan Millwright, you will play a direct role in maximizing equipment availability, minimizing production downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the operation.
This position requires individuals who are comfortable working with a wide range of industrial machinery and systems, including electrical installations, hydraulic systems, pneumatic equipment, and process control systems.
The role also requires participation in rotational shifts to ensure continuous support of the smelter’s operational requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Planned Maintenance Execution
A major component of this role involves carrying out scheduled electrical and mechanical maintenance activities. These maintenance tasks must be completed within specified timeframes while maintaining high-quality workmanship standards.

Breakdown Response and Troubleshooting

Equipment Reliability Improvement

Minimum Requirements
Educational Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
- N3 qualification or equivalent in Electro-Mechanical studies.
- Preference will be given to candidates possessing qualifications above N3 level.
- Recognized Trade Test Certificate as a Millwright.
Experience Requirements
Candidates should possess:
- A minimum of five years’ experience working in a similar industrial maintenance environment.
- At least three years of Medium Voltage (MV) switching experience.
- Proven experience performing both electrical and mechanical maintenance activities on industrial equipment.
Advantageous Qualifications
- Formal certification in Lifting Machinery Inspection.
- Additional technical or engineering-related qualifications.
- Experience within a smelting, mining, metals processing, or heavy industrial environment.
